Monday was Otto and Wanda's 12th birthday! We were out of the house for a lot of the evening, then I was exhausted when we got back, so we decided to celebrate last night instead.
As per usual, all the Buddies got to participate in the celebration, and we pretty much tell them all Happy Birthday, because Otto and Wanda's birthday is the only one for which we know the date. Sean had bought them "special" mush—tuna, chicken, and then another can of kitty mush we rarely buy. We started off by singing Happy Birthday, then transitioned into the Kitty Mush Song as Sean ladled tuna onto six little plates. When he got done, he opened the chicken can and started giving them all a taste of that as well, except by then we'd run out of song, so then he started singing "The Jeffersons" theme song substituting "mush" for most of the words: "Well, we're moving on uuup…to the Mush side….to a DE-luxe Mushpartment in the sky-y-y…" Since he still wanted to add yet more Kitty Mush to the mix with the other can, he then had to add another song. This time it was to the tune of "Good Times:" "Just lookin' out of the window, watching the Mush Pots grow…thinking how it all looks handed down (Mush Time! Mush Time!)." Nothing like trying to improvise the backup singing while Sean is making up songs to old 70s tunes.
Needless to say, the Buddies were all quite impressed with their cornucopia (or MUSHucopia, I guess). Then they all promptly settled down for the traditional Birthday Nap. An hour later, sitting at the computer doing our checking, I could hear Otto snoring away in the bedroom, sleeping off his Tryptophan stupor. I think the Birthday Party was a success…
