Raindrops Keep Falling on Their Heads

You know that old adage about how cats hate water?  About how the most onerous thing you can do to a cat is get it wet?

Apparently, our cats haven't gotten the memo.

When we built them a lanai on the back of the house, we lamented the fact that they would be unable to enjoy it on rainy days.  Because of the way the house is constructed, putting a regular screened-in porch would likely cause the house to be too dark, which we really didn't want.  Putting in a lanai seemed like the best compromise:  we could offer the cats some nice "outdoor" time while not sacrificing any sunshine in the house when the door was closed.  They would just have to get used to spending the rainy days inside.

Ummm...not so much.  Many times, we have come home from a meal or the grocery store to find Reggie or Cooper either hunkered down under a chair on the lanai or else splayed out in one with a look of utter abandon, all while getting supremely soaked.  Reggie's been known to wait until you could almost wring him out before coming in out of the rain.  Sometimes we have to go out and escort them, particularly when it's a thunderstorm.  Today, I chased him around with a towel trying to dry him off.  He was having none of it and ran away from me as fast as his chubby little legs would carry him.

It's probably a good way to go through life though.  Why let a little rain spoil an otherwise perfect day?  The worst that can happen is that you get a little drenched.
