Doctor Wanda and Staff

Over the past two days, I've been in bad shape physically.  I've had a fairly high fever that has made me chilled, sore, and grumpy.  Luckily, I've had very good medical care throughout.  Doctor Wanda has been there to minister to me, along with her trusty staff:  Nurse Otto, Nurse Reggie, Nurse Elroy, and of course, Nurse Mister (Mister might be a P.A. by now though--I think he's been taking night classes).  They work in shifts, but they always make sure that I am warm and resting comfortably.  Except when they cause me not to rest comfortably and I irritably move to change positions and interrupt their therapy.

Dr. Wanda has perfected her bedside manner, but I guess I am lucky that she hasn't pulled out the big guns in her therapy--her therapeutic arm acupuncture.  Luckily, she's just been content to keep me warm and entertained by her adorableness.  Nurse Mister has been snuggling as close as he can, and head-bunting me in the face as much as possible--presumably to help relieve some of that sinus pressure.  Nurse Reggie has been sitting on my chest a lot--I'm pretty sure it must be an old household remedy for relieving lung congestion.  Nurse Elroy just comes in when the other shifts go off duty, to loudly ask me if I need anything, although I'm pretty sure that what he's really asking is if I would get him something--like maybe some more foodie.  He's the newbie on the staff and still has a lot to learn about effective nursing practices.  I think Doctor Mango has just been spending a lot of time on the links, because I haven't seen her during my extended bed stay.

I'm convinced they're getting something out of it, too, though.  If sleeping next to a wood stove or a radiator is fun, surely a Big Buddy emanating 102.8 degrees of heat in an equally warm bed has got to be better.  Hmmm...maybe that explains their sudden interest in the healing arts...

  1. How nice to have so many male nurses! ;-) Thank goodness for in-home care. I guess the state of health-care isn't as bad as we thought! Hope you feel better soon, my friend. So glad you have such good company.

  2. Galileo and Columbus are praying for you.
In fact they were asked to speak at the next national prayer breakfast - after they eat of course !

  3. It's funny how cats can sense when you aren't feeling well. Although I am of the "leave me alone" persuasion when ill, I cannot get rid of Ducat if I stay in bed sick. He will sit (or lay) beside me like a posted sentry (or on top of me if I'm lying on my back). At this point I've given up trying to chase him away.
