Elroy Doesn't Want to Be Right

Ah, young love.  To love with all your heart--wantonly, passionately, completely.  To love so much that it hurts sometimes...literally.

Elroy loves like that.  He loves Otto like that.  And he loves Wanda like that.  Problem is, most of the time, neither one of them gives him the time of day.

We watched Elroy this evening in his usual effusive element, chasing Otto around the living room trying to give him some head-bunting loving.  The more he chased Otto down, the more Otto ran away.  Around and around the couch they went, Otto glancing nervously over his shoulder and Elroy in hot pursuit.  Finally, unable to take the rejection any longer, Elroy took a half-hearted swipe at Otto.  I could almost hear Elroy's internal dialogue on this one:  "I love you, Otto!  Love, love, LOVE you, Otto!  Otto, wait--you're running too fast.  Otto, stop moving so I can love you, dammit!!"  Honestly, I know we shouldn't have, but it was impossible not to laugh.

Then Elroy set his laser sights on Wanda.  Wanda was just sitting there, minding her own bees-wax, when suddenly Elroy lunged at her in a big, exuberant head-bunt.  Wanda's head pulled back in what could only be described as "EWWWWwww," as Elroy tried in vain to give her some of his lovin' with his head bunts and face rubs.  When Wanda looked suspiciously like she was getting ready to open a can of whoop-a**, Elroy gave up and went back to chasing after Otto.

And so it went, for the next ten minutes or so, until Elroy finally gave up and went to get a sip of water.  Finally, his unrequited love for the Meezers has driven him to drink.  I guess it was inevitable.  A few minutes later, he was curled up on the couch for an (open-eyed) nap.  If loving them is wrong, Elroy doesn't want to be right.
