Nap-time Recruitment

The other day, I headed to bed after work for a few minutes of being horizontal, when I noticed a lump in the bed.  Most of the time, a lump in our bed is going to be a.) Otto, b.) a pile of bunched up covers, or c.) a chupacabra.  Since the covers were actually in pretty good shape and it's not chupacabra season right now, I figured it must be A.  I climbed in and organized myself around Otto and closed my eyes.  Less than a minute later, Reggie showed up, which I knew without opening my eyes because he started walking purposely on the lump.  I pushed him off a few times and he finally settled down--pretty much right on the lump, which pointedly and grumblingly moved to another part of the bed, closer to my feet.

A minute or so after that, I felt and heard a presence jump on the pillow behind my head, walk around a few moments, and settle down beside my head to sleep and purr.  It was Mister, of course.  Then, after I'd dozed off for a second, I opened my eyes to find Wanda staring intently at my previously closed eyes, again about seven inches from my face.  I opened the covers and in she crawled.  She snuggled in the crook of my arm under the covers, with my arm out of the covers to fully accommodate her.

Finally, I woke because I felt a cool breeze on my hand and wondered who'd opened a door or window.  Looked up and it was Elroy, breathing on my hand.  He took a surveying look at the lumps of cats and decided to sleep on Sean's side of the bed instead.

Honestly, if there's one thing you can count on in our house, it's that a quick nap will always turn into a group project.  I have to admit, I love having the help.
