So, just a few minutes ago, I was playing online Scrabble on Facebook with a friend, and Elroy decided he needed some loving. That's a fairly rare thing for Elroy to do--usually it's Reggie who's determined to get some attention while I'm at my computer desk. Elroy peeped at me a few times, looking up at me with his huge, sea-green eyes, then jumped into the back portion of the seat of the chair. As I was formulating my next move, he stepped around me into my lap, then leaped onto the desk.
I had just placed the word F-E-T-C-H on the board, when suddenly the little symbol started moving on the game to indicate that a move had been played, but I hadn't played it. Apparently, Elroy thought that was a perfectly good word that did not need to be embellished with an "E-R" or an "E-S," because he went ahead and hit the Enter key for me. Maybe he thought I should save those for later? At least I managed to get an actual word on the board before he intervened.
This is not the first time that Elroy has demonstrated his editing prowess. About a year and a half ago, Elroy was walking around on my desk and happened to land on the "M" key, among others. I'm not sure how he did this, and I'm pretty sure I couldn't recreate this if I tried, but somehow he managed to re-name my Mozilla Firefox. After Elroy got through with it, it was called "Mmmmmmmmmmm," which I felt was strangely appropriate somehow. I decided to leave it. Why not? Every time I looked at it after that it reminded me of sweet Elroy. It actually made me sad when I changed computers and the new computer didn't have Elroy's edits on it. Maybe I should go ahead and re-name my Mozilla Firefox myself on this computer, in honor of Elroy's previous edit on the other computer? I'll give that some thought, as soon as I can figure out how to do it.
