Seeing Eye to Eye
The other morning, as I was getting ready for work, I noticed Wanda curled up against Sean, who was still snoozing away. She looked at me meaningfully for a second, so I flopped down on the bed on my stomach, my face about five inches from her face. Motionless, I stared into her eyes. She stared right back. I smiled at her. She made a short, scratchy bark. I did the "slow blink" a few times (that cat non-verbal thing that communicates affection), and she started purring immediately as soon as I did the first one. I love the way Siamese cats will just maintain eye contact, no matter how close and no matter how long.
